Harper "Offensive and Racist" - Elder

 

Chief Stephen Augustine, a Mi'kmaq Elder, calls Harper's use of the phrase "Old-Stock Canadians" offensive and racist. He also points out that natives come to mind with the phrase, as the original inhabitants, but recognizes Harper's use of it as a slight to immigrants.

MFNAN Court Ruling Successful

 

The Federal court ruled in favor of Alex Howse and Sterling Foster, two applicants of the enrolment process who had been rejected. For their application to be denied due to a missing signature and long-form birth certificate respectively was found to be unfair and unreasonable, especially in light of the applicants not being given the opportunity to rectify the issues.
